HARDING, Edith Soey

COVINGTON - Mrs. Edith Harding, age 59, a former resident of Newtown and sister of Hubert Soey of Covington, died Monday, Feb. 12, in a hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio She had been a buyer for the Kroger Stores of Cincinnati for 25 years. Mrs. Harding left the Newtown community shortly after her marriage to Dow Harding in 1930. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a 1926 graduate of Newtown High School and later attended Madame Blaker's College, an Indianapolis teachers institute. She was born in Edgar County, Ill., in 1909, the daughter of James E. and Mary Jane Soey. The family moved to Newtown in 1914. She was a former member of the Newtown Methodist Church. Surviving are: one son, M. D. Harding of Cincinnati; one daughter, Mary Jane Stegel, also of Cincinnati; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Edna) Dean of Cincinnati and Mrs. Mary Carter of Indianapolis; three brothers, Arthur Soey of Lafayette, Russell Soey and Hubert Soey of Covington; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Wednesday in Cincinnati. - jlr
